PLLA and CaHA are studied for different goals in body aesthetics. Mild to moderate skin laxity, texture and certain contour concerns may be assessed. Evidence and product indications differ by area; findings in one region do not establish the same outcome everywhere.
Backs of the Hands
Volume loss and thin skin are assessed separately. Certain CaHA products have evidence for dorsal hand volume loss.
Neck and Under-Chin Area
Skin laxity, fat accumulation and muscle anatomy are distinguished. Biostimulators do not dissolve under-chin fat.
Décolleté
Fine wrinkles and skin texture may be addressed. Approval and preparation conditions are product-specific.
Abdomen and Postpartum Changes
May be assessed for loose skin after pregnancy or weight change. It does not correct abdominal muscle separation or substantial excess skin. Timing after pregnancy and breastfeeding requires assessment.
Knees and Upper Arms
Publications address crepey skin around the knees and upper-arm laxity. This is not an intra-articular injection or treatment for joint disease.
Buttocks and Thighs
Studies have examined skin quality, laxity and cellulite appearance. This is distinct from large-volume buttock augmentation; evidence and indication limitations must be discussed.
Much of the body evidence comes from small studies and expert recommendations. Results are assessed over weeks and months; session requirements vary. Bruising, swelling, infection, nodules and rare vascular complications are discussed.
